Collaboration with performance artist Anniken Weber
In 2017, as part of a collaboration between myself and extraordinary performance artist Anniken Weber I sent one of my woven shawls to Anniken in Norway
Warp Weighted Loom
In order to find out what weaving is in its purest form I felt compelled to create my own looms and weave in methods that have been done for thousands of years. In this way, weaving becomes a ritual of morphic resonance.
Sachaqa Centro Del Arte - Artist residency in the Peruvian rainforest
My aim whilst at the art centre in Peru was to create a loom from recycled materials around the centre. I felt that going back to basics, to build a simple tapestry loom, navajo style would bring me closer to the essence of what it means to weave.
Weaving Witches and Women of Penryn - Film collaboration
Following in the steps of Kate the Gull and in homage to the Cornish god of wind Bucca, we went to Penryn Quayside on an afternoon in February to catch the wind. Kate the Gull, a local witch, would capture the wind by knotting rope - she would then sell these ropes to sailors to unknot when the wind died down at sea.
The Selkie Weaving and the Wild Feminine - ONCA Brighton
In March 2018 I exhibited and worked as artist in residence as part of the exhibition The Selkie, Weaving and the Wild Feminine. This exhibition made of of a collection of female textile artists looked to explore the myth of the selkie in all of its forms.
Root to Rise exhibition & residency at The Fish Factory in Penryn
Root to Rise was an exhibition of hand woven textiles, tapestries and hand made looms made in meditation on the Cornish landscape and weather fronts.
Old Bank Studio - Artist Residency Cornwall
At the end of 2017 I was privileged to be able to spend a week and a half at Old Bank Studios as one of their resident artists.
